Course description: Tax legislation in Mauritius has become more complex over the last decade. As the international tax landscape, spurred by standard setting institutions such as the OECD and the EU, has evolved towards harmonisation and exchange of information, our tax framework has had to adapt. This course is aimed at law practitioners with limited exposure to taxation in their practice and who wish to understand some of the key principles of the taxation of corporates in Mauritius, from a legal (as opposed to an accountant’s) perspective. Topics to be covered will include: basis of taxation of corporates in Mauritius, the partial exemption regime, controlled foreign company legislation and anti-avoidance legislation.
