"What is the meaning of  torture in Mauritius? Torture had been defined in different ways in international spheres until the advent of official definition of torture in s.1 of CAT. However, under Mauritian laws, torture has been defined in the same wordings as art. 1 CAT under s. 78 Criminal Code. The subject matter of the discussion is whether evidence obtained through torture is admissible in a court of law.”
