Following a brief introduction to arbitration and its importance to international commercial dispute resolution, the speaker will reflect upon some of the key themes emerging from the twenty-third congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration - 'AfrICCA' - which was held in Mauritius in May 2016. Discussion points include the application of the rule of law and best practice for arbitrators and advocates. The session will conclude with interactive discourse on the way forward for Mauritius as an international arbitration hub.
