The growth of the pre-pack administration: Is its bubble about to burst?

CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

RESOURCE PERSON:
Mr. Chris Umfreville, Senior Lecturer, University of Wolverhampton Law School

Talk on the issue of statutory administration procedure in the UK to achieve a so-called pre-packaged sale of an insolvent company’s business and assets immediately following the appointment of an administrator; a process which is not provided for in statute and has come under increased government and creditor scrutiny.

The pre-pack process is currently subject to an Independent Review conducted by Teresa Graham CBE, with reform seemingly imminent. The presenter, together with his colleague Professor Peter Walton, was commissioned by the Review to conduct an independent analysis of the process and its outcomes. With other jurisdictions considering adopting a similar practice, the outcome of this Review may be far-reaching.
